Sport

At Bizweni Primary, learners are encouraged to actively participate in physical activity as an essential part of their overall development. Through sport and movement, children develop a positive sense of self-image, self-esteem and confidence, while learning the value of perseverance, teamwork and healthy competition.

A strong emphasis is placed on helping learners understand the importance of good health, personal hygiene and safety, while creating opportunities for them to grow physically, socially and emotionally. Throughout the school day, learners engage in activities designed to strengthen both gross and fine motor skills, improve coordination and control, and build awareness of their bodies in relation to space and movement.

Using a variety of large and small equipment, learners explore movement across different areas of learning, both indoors and outdoors. These experiences support the development of balance, mobility, strength and coordination, while encouraging learners to stay active and enjoy physical activity as part of a healthy lifestyle.

Our extra-curricular sports programme focuses on the development of fundamental sports skills, sportsmanship, teamwork and group participation. We believe that every child should have the opportunity to discover and enjoy sport in a positive environment where they can learn, develop and ultimately excel without fear of failure or unnecessary pressure to perform.

Through participation in sport, learners not only improve their physical abilities but also learn valuable life skills such as discipline, resilience, cooperation and respect for others.
